Casa de Shenandoah, former residence of Las Vegas icon Wayne Newton since 1968, has been "reorganized" out of bankruptcy and is now up for sale for a modest $70M! The property is located just down the street from the Primm Estate, which is also currently up for sale, though only for a mere $16,500,000. Here's an aerial photo I took of the 36 acre ranch estate from the air, coincidentally just a few days before it went on the market. You can see the jet parked outside, ready to whisk you away!
This is an area steeped in Las Vegas lore, and has been home to a wide variety of colorful figures over the years: from Bugsy Siegel to Robert Goulet to Mike Tyson. The new owners spent a whopping $20M fixing it up for sale, and the price tag includes:
An 11,192 square foot main mansion
Six more residences totalling an additional 27,308 square feet
53 stables with tack rooms, offices, equestrian pool and acres of corrals
Huge car museum with 7 double doors
The Zoo (though most of the animals were relocated to wild life centers)
A jumbo jet terminal with its own executive lounge
Gaming room
Tennis courts

But what happened to Mr. Las Vegas? He and wife Kathleen moved just a scant mile away from their former residence, purchasing several adjoining properties with multiple dwellings for the friends and family that relocated with them from Casa de Shenandoah. The new private compound, christened simply "The Shenandoah," has a main mansion of 9145 square feet with 6 bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, wine cellar, gym, sauna, steam bath, full theatre, pools, spas, waterfalls, and ponds. The mansion and main guest house previously belonged to Norbert Aleman, producer of the "Crazy Girls" topless show and the popular female impersonators review "La Cage."
There was plenty of room on the 20 acre spread of The Shenandoah for Mr. Newton's beloved Arabians, the peacocks and Charlie the Penguin. Additional exotic animals are sure to be on their way as soon as the Newton's get a bit more settled into their new digs. We wish them well in their new home.
