LAS VEGAS STRIP MAP

The Las Vegas Strip is actually named Las Vegas Boulevard.  The "Strip" nickname came from a Los Angeles Police Officer and Businessman Guy McAfee.  It reminded him of his hometown's Sunset Strip.  Most Vegas people will insist that "Our Strip" is better.

The area that is defined as the "Strip" is usually mapped as the Area from the South end near Mandalay Bay (Russell Road) to the North end of the Strip near the Sahara and Stratosphere (Sahara Avenue).  Most surrounding residential areas are at most a 20-minute drive.

Below is a map of the Las Vegas Strip showing the major hotels and casinos. Drive time from McCarran Airport to the Strip is approximately 5 minutes. Drive time to downtown Las Vegas (the Fremont Street area) is approximately 12 minutes.  Most locals know the "tricks" to avoid the Strip.  Desert Inn is a great way to get from the Eastside to the Westside.  The road actually goes UNDER the Strip.  Las Vegas also has a beltway that circles the city.  There are many easy ways to navigate the town.
