The results from the FBI crime statistics are in, and Henderson Nevada made the 2012 list of the top 20 safest cities to live in the United States. Statistics took into account the size of the population vs the number of violent crimes, including rape and murder.

Ironically, in 2008 Henderson also made the Forbes top 10 list for the most boring cities to live in. Read the Details Here

As a resident of Henderson, I am delighted with safe, and "boring" is just fine with me. Especially when in 12 minutes I can be at the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, which is about as un-boring as you can get. And it's only 20 minutes to downtown and Fremont Street with its electric light canopy, live bands and street musicians

Yet truthfully, Henderson is a wonderful place to live and really not boring at all. There are beautiful tree lined neighborhoods, at least a dozen fabulous championship golf courses, several resort style casinos, loads of parks, hiking trails, biking trails, several open air amphitheatres, some amazing gourmet restaurants, great shopping, and of course the Lake Mead Recreation Area with its plethora of boating, water sports and fishing. No one would mistake it for Mayberry RFD. And the prices of homes for sale in Las Vegas and Henderson are very similar.

But I think any time you are located right next to a mecca of entertainment and night life like Las Vegas, almost any other city would look comparatively dull. It would be like putting Katherine Heigl next to Catherine Zeta Jones. On her own, Katherine Heigl is beautiful and charming and totally a traffic stopper. But next to Catherine Zeta Jones, the guys will notice Zeta Jones first every time.

Still, everyone loves the "Girl Next Door." Henderson is like Katherine Heigl, and everyone that lives here, loves her.
